I have been assured that the soon-to-be owner of this quilt is going to love it. This makes me happy. Apparently he steals his brother’s quilt (here), so maybe having his own will stop that.
This one is 54×58, finished in 281min.

I got this quilt back from my sister on Sunday. I was able to get it trimmed and bound today. I like it. And I hope the owner loves it!
It’s 62×62 and took 705min.
My husband’s brother had another baby, this one a boy. Quilt #5 was for his little girl. (If you are doing the math, you have figured out that’s two babies in two years.
And so, of course, I needed to make a quilt for him. I was digging around in my fabric boxes, trying to find fabric for a quilt for him (and a set of twins I’m going to make quilts for) and remembered my Mom (who knows the colors that make my soul sing) had given me some bright strips. I pulled them out, and wouldn’t you know it (not only did I NOT take a picture of them) but there was enough to do something with. Yay!
(I did get a picture of pieces of the fabrics, if not the whole strips.)
.
I figured out a pattern, played with some numbers, and got started on the cutting. 320 – 2.5in squares. Fun.
And then I sewed squares together, into strips of four and six.
The strips will be sewn onto the black squares you see in one of the pictures. Then the 16 blocks will get sewn together. I haven’t figured out a back yet. While I’m thinking about it, I have two more quilts to trim and bind.
(Started on 01/21/2012.)
Way back when I was a baby quilter, I made Quilt #3. And it sat at my sister’s for a while. It wasn’t for anyone, so it didn’t have to be finished immediately.
She finally got to it, and gave it to me on Sunday. And since today was a rainy day, it was perfect to get it trimmed and bound.
It is 56×66, and took 741min.
Put together, with borders one and two:
And borders three and four:
The top is finished, 54×54, 487min.
I really like it. It will eventually go to a soldier’s baby who needs some love to wrap around them.
I’ve had these blocks on my wall since July 2011. I didn’t like the way they looked, and I didn’t have the fabric I wanted to do the next step, so they just sat there.
Until last month, when my sewing motivation showed back up. So I headed to the store with a list of what I needed to finish the top so I could get it to the quilter, then get it sent to the sister of the child who has Quilt #15.

When I look at it now, I love it. I think it turned out fantastic. The back is the same fabric as the letters/numbers, and I think the future owner is going to love it, too.
I lost my motivation to sew not long after my last post (July!) so just left the fabric in the boxes, left the quilt pieces on the wall, and went on with life.
An online friend announced that she was going to be having a boy, and instantly my brain went – Yay! Let’s quilt! – and then it went – Oh, wait! There’s a quilt on the wall! Finish that one first!
Living with my brain is a bit weird.
So I figured out what I needed to finish a very small project, what I needed to finish the quilt on the wall, started thinking about what I wanted to make for this new precious baby – and then hit the store.

Small Project – 28×31 – I have no idea when I started it, but I finished it today. It has lots of mistakes. It was one of the first ones I did, and I got it back from my sister a couple weeks ago. It’s good for an infant, a small dog, or to hang on the wall.
Fabric pieces I came home with.

Ready, set, create!
So here it is. I got this one back from the Quilter sometime during the week of the 17th, I think. It could have been the weekend before, I don’t remember. I should start keeping track of that or something.
Anyway, so her machine was being funky with this one when it got to the last part of the quilting, so there are spots where stitches are skipped. That machine is temperamental every 4th quilt or so. I think we are going to start doing “junk” quilts at that time. lol And since I screwed up and did the back larger on the sides instead of the top and bottom, then I had to cut off more of the border than I would have liked while trimming, but it looks fine. I know better for next time.
It was finished on 7/24/11, 1086min.
Some quilt detail.
